About Iasi City
Iasi City is one of the oldest and one of the most important sites of the country, where there has always been strongly pulsated authentic Romanian life. The City, which is the Moldavian Capital, gave inestimable material and spiritual values to national patrimony, and has drawn glorious pages in the history of the country, lasting remained in people conscience.
General information about Iasi Town
Situated closely to the East bounds of Romania , Iasi will be after the integration, a main development pole of the East part of European Union.
Strongly University Centre, with over 60.000 students annually in 5 public Universities and 3 private Universities ( Al.I.Cuza University being one of the oldest from the country).
Strongly Cultural Centre (“Cultural Capital of Romania” saying frequently used) and Historical Centre (in 2008 will be celebrated 600 years of Iasi documentary attestation).
City with an impressive cultural and religious patrimony – over 50 churches, e.g. The “Three Hierarchies” Church, symbol of the City (Nicolae Iorga said that: “ Iasi is first of all, a church – The churches Church of our past”).
Multicultural City , where numerous Foreign Cultural Centers activates (French centre, German centre, Centre of Latin America, British Council) and also there can be found the Italian Community, Jewish Community.

Since 1860, the university has been carrying on a tradition of excellence and innovation in the fields of education and research. Accomodation will be at Akademos Luxury House located on Fatu Anastasie Street, Iasi, tel: +40 (232) 201 701. Is the newest and most modern home Cuza University.
The hotel is centrally located in the "Rapa Galbena" and students can get to staying here for summer school courses in less than 10 minutes by foot.

Send a complete application package, i.e. filled-in application form, your CV and motivation letter (one single page), to the following email address: summerschoolrise@yahoo.com (put word “application” into the mail subject). The deadline for receiving your application is August 15, 2010. You will receive the information on your acceptance within one week after this deadline. If accepted you will be provided with complete details regarding the summer school.
Target group
30 students, master graduates, doctoral candidates, researchers, young professionals from Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Georgia, Albania and Serbia and other Western Balkan states. We seek active people, open and creative. The working language will be English, so a good command of English is essential.
Topics and lecturers
The first edition of our Summer School will include lectures, discussions, workshops on environmental issues of European security and international efforts on EU policies regarding energy, challenges generated by diversity in global context and many other issues on the international agenda. Classes will be held by internationally renowned specialists, ministers, parliamentarians and university lecturers.
Participants will cover
• individual travel and accommodation expenses (rooms on the „Akademos” Hotel University at a moderate price);
• participation fee - 30 EUR;
• in the case of participants from other countries, medical insurance and any visa fees.
